This is a method of removing moisture from material. The purpose of this is to increase the stability of the product - as bacteria does not grow as easily in dry matrial.
The use in pharmaceutical applications is for aeseptic conditions.

Introduction
Hello and Welcome to my Blog.
I've wanted to create an online site on this subject for quite some time, and although I've enjoyed making a few web-sites, the sad fact is that the maintenance, code tweaking, linking are all time consuming. The ideal is to spend as much time as possible delivering content rather than engineering the delivery!
When Blogs first arrived, the ease of use seemed promising, but the structure was geared to showing current information, whilst older information got hidden in the archives.
I think I've found a good balance between the two, to this end refer to the section entitled Completed Articles - this serves as the index.
I hope to build a substantial knowledge base, that will be useful to myself and to others.... those that walk the interesting and seeming paradoxical world (to the uninitiated) of Quality Systems and Productivity.
On a technical note:
This blog will make use of some multimedia and for these to work, some (free) software would be required:
1) Speex:
A truly amazing piece of technology that allows for audio recordings at extremely small bandwidth/file size
2) DivX
A very Popular video format for use on computers
Both these can be downloaded from the links shown to the left.
